About the role

You will own the flight control laws for the SABAL family — the tandem-rotor logistics platforms that carry up to 20 kg across terrain where nothing lands.

This is a hands-on role. You will move between simulation, bench testing, and the flight line, and you will be at the trials when your changes fly for the first time.

What you will do

  • Design, tune, and validate control laws for variable-pitch tandem-rotor aircraft.
  • Build and maintain the simulation models used to qualify control changes before flight.
  • Define and run bench and flight test campaigns, then close the loop from flight data back into the model.
  • Work with the autopilot firmware team on real-time constraints, failure modes, and redundancy behaviour.
  • Own airworthiness evidence for the control system, including failure analysis and recovery logic.

What we are looking for

  • Degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Control Engineering.
  • Five or more years designing flight control systems for rotorcraft or VTOL aircraft.
  • Strong grounding in classical and modern control, system identification, and stability analysis.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink and at least one of C or C++.
  • Direct experience taking a control system through flight test.

Nice to have

  • Experience with tandem-rotor or coaxial configurations.
  • Familiarity with PX4, ArduPilot, or a comparable autopilot stack.
  • Exposure to high-altitude or degraded-air-density operations.
