About the role

We are looking for a Robotics Engineer to design, develop, and deploy autonomous flight algorithms that enable drones to perceive their surroundings, plan paths, and execute precise manoeuvres in challenging environments.

The role involves working on flight controllers, firmware, and embedded software to implement automation tasks while ensuring drone reliability, safety, and scalability.

What you will do

  • Design and implement core robotics algorithms for motion planning, state estimation (SLAM/VIO), and flight control systems.
  • Integrate and calibrate sensors (LiDAR, Stereo Cameras, IMUs, GPS) to build a robust environmental model for the aircraft.
  • Write high-quality, production-ready code in C++ and Python for real-time embedded systems and flight controllers.
  • Develop and use Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulations to validate features before they hit the field.
  • Collaborate with the Flight Ops team to conduct real-world testing, triage field issues, and iterate based on telemetry data.
  • Ensure all flight software meets rigorous safety standards, handling "edge cases" such as sensor failure, extreme weather, and GNSS-denied environments.

What we are looking for

  • B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Robotics, Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in C++ and Python, with knowledge of 3D geometry, linear algebra, kinematics, and dynamics.
  • Experience with ROS/ROS2 or similar robotics frameworks and familiarity with Linux-based operating systems.
  • Understanding of embedded systems, RTOS, and communication protocols including UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, and MAVLink.
  • Strong debugging, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across software, hardware, product, and manufacturing teams.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of computer vision, deep learning, object detection, and semantic segmentation.
  • Experience with embedded hardware such as Jetson or Raspberry Pi, autopilot platforms like PX4/ArduPilot, and simulation tools such as Gazebo, AirSim, or Unity.
  • Familiarity with numerical optimization techniques for path planning, including A*, RRT*, and trajectory optimization, with the flexibility to work across software and hardware systems.
